SIUC hosts Physical Education-Health Conference

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Division of Continuing Education, in partnership with the kinesiology department, invites you to show your S.T.U.F.F. (Strategy, Techniques, Understanding, Fitness, and Fundamentals in Physical Education) at the Sixth Annual Southern Illinois Physical Education and Health Conference. The conference is March 5 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. at Davies Hall.

The event features hands-on learning, fun, networking, and Continuing Professional Development Units for educators, coaches, students, and anyone else from the Southern Illinois region with an interest in physical education and health. Participants will have the opportunity to meet new people while obtaining valuable ideas, techniques and motivational tools. They can take the valuable new tools they acquire to their schools to build stronger teams and enhance their physical education programs.

Sessions will include activities appropriate for elementary and secondary physical education classes. Seminar topics may include teaching on a shoestring budget, team building, climbing wall simulations, using automated external defibrillators, special populations and autism, cup stacking, bowling in your gym, and orienteering.

Registration is $85 for professionals, free for SIUC kinesiology students, and $15 for other SIUC students. Participants must register by Feb. 26 or register on-site for $95.
