Mark Kittleson recognized by association

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Mark J. Kittleson, professor of health education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, has been named a fellow of the American Association for Health Education in recognition of his service to the organization and scholarly contributions to the field. He won the group’s Scholar of the Year Award in 2008.

Kittleson holds fellow status in two other professional organizations: the American Academy of Health Behavior (which he helped found) and the Research Council of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. SIUC’s College of Education and Human Services also recognized him as Scholar of the Year in 2003.

An SIUC faculty member since 1989, Kittleson teaches biostatistics, health informatics, program planning, research and evaluation, and grant application writing.

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1975 and 1978 respectively at Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University Mankato) and his doctorate from the University of Akron in 1986.
