Artists invited to participate in juried exhibition

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Critical Forum, otherwise known as C4, urges artists both on campus and in the community to bring it.

The group issued an open call for entries to the Fourth Annual Juried Art Exhibition at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The exhibition runs March 30-April 3 in the Surplus Gallery in the Glove Factory at 432 S. Washington Ave. in Carbondale. The drop-off dates are March 27, noon-8 p.m., and March 28, 9 a.m.-noon.

This year’s juror is artist Kris Kuksi, a multi-media artist whose sculpture, drawings and paintings have an international audience. Kuksi’s recent exhibitions include the “Scope Art Fair” in Miami, the Steampunk exhibition at the Museum of the History of Science at the University of Oxford in England, and “The 13th Hour” exhibition in New York City. His recent solo exhibitions include “Beast Anthology,” in New York City, and the “Divine Invasion” exhibition in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The exhibit is open to all media with a maximum size of 4’x 4’ x 8’. Entry forms are available in the SIUC School of Art and Design offices in the Allyn Building, or contributing artists may fill out an entry form when they drop off their art. The entry fee is $15 for the first three pieces, with additional entries accepted at $5 each.

Awards include $500 in cash prizes, with awards given to graduate, undergraduate, and community categories.

Artists must drop off their work in person.
