Poshards, Goldman are honorary AIDs Walk chairs

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University President Glenn Poshard and his wife, Jo, and SIUC Chancellor Samuel Goldman are the honorary chairs for this weekend’s Southern Illinois AIDS Walk.

The walk begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the SIUC Newman Center, 715 S. Washington St. Set-up and HIV testing begin at 10 a.m., with a health fair and walker registration starting at noon.

Proceeds from this event go toward the purchase of grocery store gift cards distributed to low-income families impacted by HIV or AIDS. The project serves the multi-county area of Alexander, Edwards, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Massac, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Saline, Union, Wabash, Wayne, White and Williamson counties.

The Poshards and Goldman are serving as honorary chairs in recognition of their continued work on HIV and AIDS issues in Southern Illinois.
