Stress-buster classes available for faculty, staff

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Although classes are under way, it’s not too late for Southern Illinois University Carbondale faculty and staff to sign up for SIUC Fit.

The program’s Midday Stress Buster Fall Session classes began Aug. 17 and continue through Dec. 18. Classes won’t meet on Labor Day, Veteran’s Day or during Thanksgiving break. There’s one major change though in the scheduling that organizers want to alert people to. Originally, all classes were to be at Davies Gym. But, due to scheduling conflicts, the weight training classes will instead meet in Room 158 at the Student Recreation Center.

Here’s the schedule for the stress-buster classes:

• Cardio -- 11:25 a.m.-12:10 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Davies Gym with Vicki Busch as instructor.

• Yoga -- 12:15-1 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Davies Gym with Maureen Doran as instructor.

• Weight training -- 12:15-1 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday in Room 158 of the Student Recreation Center with Christina Cannova as instructor.

The cost for unlimited classes during the semester is $125 or you can get a 25-punch card for $65 or a 12-punch card for $35. Two or more participants can share a punch card but each time any of them attend a class the card will get one punch. If you buy two or more cards at the same time you get a weekend pass to the Student Recreation Center.
