Grant writing courses planned for fall

by Ashley McRaven

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Anyone wanting to learn more about the process of obtaining grants from government or private organizations will want to check out a fall pair of grant writing courses from the Division of Continuing Education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

“Introduction to Grant Writing” will offer those new to the process basic information about developing grant proposals. The course will be 6-9 each evening Sept. 14-15 in Room 1018 at the SIUC Communications Building.

“Advanced Grant Development and Registration” is set for 6-9 p.m. Oct. 5-6 in Room 1018 at the University’s Communications Building. The advanced course is for those already familiar with the grant writing process and provides information about what happens after grant approval and how to develop grants that directly impact long-range and strategic planning goals.

The cost for each course is $50 and covers materials. Tentative registration deadlines are Sept. 11 for the introductory course and Oct. 2 for the advanced course.

Jo Nast, a 25-year grant-writing veteran, will teach the grant courses, newly updated for this fall. For more information or to register, contact the Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit the Web site at https://www.dce.siu.edu.
