Kleinau to host performances

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The performance season at Kleinau Theater at Southern Illinois University Carbondale concludes with spotlight presentations and a solo.

First up, today (April 23), is “At the Mercy of Ruin,” written, directed and performed by Patrick Santoro. This, and all other Kleinau performances, begin at 8 p.m.

Santoro’s solo performance “explores place, space, loss and longing.” Santoro, a doctoral student in the Department of Speech Communication, describes his performance as “a love letter, a testament, a reminder of the pain life brings, and the beauty life allows us to become.”

Tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for students.

On April 29, the Performing Culture Spotlight Performances take the stage for a free mid-week performance, followed on May 2 with the Advanced Classes Spotlight Performances. Both nights are free admission.

The Spotlight Performances are specially chosen from among the performance classes of the semester.
