Housing to honor students for academic excellence

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s University Housing and Education and Outreach will honor students living in residence halls for academic excellence during an April 4 reception.

The Academic Honors Reception is 3-5 p.m. in the lower level of Grinnell Hall. It’s for all students residing in University Housing who achieve a cumulative 3.75 grade point average. The announcement of the Top 10 Students in University Housing will also come during the reception.

Academic honors designees may apply for selection as a Top 10 award winner. The Education and Outreach recognition committee reviews applications and selects the winners based on the applicant’s positive impact on their living community, the University and the community at large. Parents and guardians get notification of their student’s success and an invitation to join in the celebration of achievement.
