CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Saluki Baseball Camp returns for the 2009 season at Abe Martin Field on the SIUC campus.

The 37th annual Saluki Baseball Camp is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily June 8-11. This is strictly a commuter camp with lunch provided for all campers each day.

This camp is geared for players ages 7-13 who love the sport of baseball and want to improve their hitting, bunting and base-running skills as well as their infield and outfield play, pitching, and techniques for specific positions. All camp players will have access to SIUC baseball facilities and will get individual instruction and participate in supervised game activity.

The Saluki baseball coaching staff of Don Callahan, Ken Henderson and Tim Dixon will lead the camp. Saluki players along with area high school and college coaches will also provide instruction.

Individuals registering by May 29 pay $175; a $50 deposit is required to hold the spot. The cost of early registration for teams of six or more youths is $155 per person until the May 29 deadline. Those registering individually or as a group after May 29 will pay an additional $10 per participant.

All camp participants receive a camp T-shirt, baseball cap and limited accidental medical coverage effective during the camp. For more information or to register, contact the SIUC Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit the Web site at https://www.dce.siu.edu.
