RSS honors employees of the month for February
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Jacob Clough and Ravindra Chowdary Gokina are the February employees of the month for Recreational Sports and Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The pair earned recognition for their noteworthy effort and outstanding service -- Gokina for his work in facilities and Clough for his work in programs.
Clough, of Carbondale, is a graduate student majoring in business administration. The son of Rich Clough and Terri Douglas, he’s been a personal trainer for about six months for Recreational Sports and Services (RSS). He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration. Clough is set to graduate in summer 2009. He said his career goal is opening “a unique health and wellness center to help bring fitness and vitality to the average person.”
“Jake provides excellent customer service for all patrons and especially those he trains,” said Lynne Thompson-Cundiff, assistant director of fitness for RSS. “He is professional in his sessions, providing up-to-date, safe, innovative, effective exercise prescriptions. He spends extra time learning and educating himself in the ever-changing field of fitness. He has taken on the duties of the graduate assistant for personal training; assigning clients and supervising the fitness technicians and personal trainers. He recently provided extra training for a new student personal trainer to get him ready to train clients. Jake also serves as a trainer for the new Saluki’s Healthiest Loser program. He is a professional, serves whenever and wherever needed, and definitely sets an example for all our staff.”
Gokina is a graduate student in electrical and computer engineering. He earned his undergraduate degree in that as well. The son of Prabhavathi G and Babu Rao Gokina, Ravindra, an RSS employee since spring 2008, is part of the custodial staff. He’s from Samalkot in the Andra Pradesh district of India. After completing his master’s degree, Gokina plans to work in the information technology field, hopefully with a major IT company.
“Ravindra Chowdary Gokina is the epitome of the ideal student employee,” said Corné Prozesky, assistant director of facilities for RSS. “He is a hard worker and has the greatest attitude. He’s always in a good mood and ready to help someone in any way he can. I am really privileged to work with Ravindra.”
