RSS honors Student Employees of the Month
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services has announced the newest winners of the Student Employee of the Month award.
Chosen for December in the programs area is Michael Lennie. Winners for January are Chelsea Samantha Bradley for programs and Kyle J. Black for facilities.
Lennie, of Crete, is a senior majoring in athletic training. The son of Scott and Karen Lennie, he’s worked for SIUC’s intramural sports program for four years. After graduating this May, Lennie plans to attend graduate school at Midwestern University in occupational therapy. His goal is to become an occupational therapist and athletic trainer.
“Mike is a student who most of our younger and veteran officials look up to,” said Shane M. Bennett, assistant director of Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs. “Mike has a bright future ahead of him in the world of officiating and it has been a pleasure watching him grow throughout our program.”
Bradley, of Steeleville, is a senior majoring in kinesiology and is a three-year recreation center employee. The daughter of Mark and Gayla Bradley, she works at the Lifestyle Enhancement Center desk and as a fitness instructor. After graduating from SIUC with a bachelor’s degree, she plans to attend graduate school for exercise science. Her goal is a career in cardiac and cancer rehabilitation.
“Chelsea Bradley has been an awesome addition to our fitness staff, said Lynne Thompson-Cundiff, assistant director of fitness for Recreational Sports and Services. “She comes with a terrific experience from working in our AIR (Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation) program and is now providing students with fun, new fitness classes! She is also just great fun to be around.”
Black, of Arlington Heights, is a senior civil engineering major at SIUC. The son of Sue and Larry Black, Kyle began working at the Student Recreation Center this semester and is a fitness floor leader in the weight room. He’ll be graduating in May and plans a career in civil engineering in the Chicago area.
“Kyle Black has been a great new student employee in our free weight room,” Thompson-Cundiff said. “He works hard to provide our patrons with the best possible service and takes pride in our new Saluki Strength Room!”
The Recreational Sports and Services employee of the month awards recognize student employees for outstanding effort and service.
