Residence Hall Dining to mark Nutrition Month

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A series of nutrition-themed meals in residence halls is part of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s celebration of March as National Nutrition Month.

The American Dietetic Association designated the special month and University Housing’s Residence Hall Dining is correlating its special meals with the theme of the 8th Annual Health and Nutrition Fair: “Go Green. Start with Veggies.” In addition, there will be some extra fun courtesy of games and prizes from Residence Hall Dining nutrition graduate and undergraduate assistants.

The schedule for the nutrition theme meals is:

• Monday, March 2, 7-10 a.m., breakfast at Lentz Hall dining hall.

• Wednesday, March 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch at Trueblood Hall dining hall.

• Wednesday, March 25, 4-7 p.m., dinner at University Hall dining hall.

It’s not just three meals. It’s a dining adventure, a fun way to learn about better nutrition and eating healthy. Students can also boost their knowledge of healthy living and eating at the Health and Nutrition Fair set for 4-6 p.m. March 19 in the lower level of Grinnell Hall.
