First Klassics for Kids concert of semester is Feb. 3

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The first Klassics for Kids concert of the new semester begins with a bang -- literally -- as the program explores percussion.

Klassics for Kids is a musical education program offering classical music and jazz performances for children as young as newborn up to about age pre-kindergarten age. The free programs often coincide with other performances or musical events taking place on or near campus, giving families a chance to experience the cultural opportunities offered on campus together.

Here is the schedule for this semester:

Feb. 3 -- Percussion and soloists

Feb. 13 -- Program and music celebrating Abraham Lincoln

March 3 -- Jazz

March 31 -- Stars of Altgeld

April 7 -- Musical theater

All performances begin at 10 a.m. and are in Altgeld Hall Room 112, the Band/Orchestra room.
