CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Having the ability to communicate in a foreign language can be both enjoyable and rewarding for business, travel or just for fun. The Division of Continuing Education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is once again during the spring 2009 semester offering Self-Instructional Language Studies for those wanting to improve their proficiency in Chinese, French, German or Spanish languages.

This self-paced, self-instructional opportunity is available at Faner Hall’s Language Media Center. The course is a year round offering with individual meeting times set during lab open hours. The spring lab hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday.

Students will have access to multi-media computers, audiotapes and videotapes, international cable television, foreign news broadcasts and closed caption television broadcasts to enhance their studies.

The registration cost is $45. To register, or for more information, contact the SIUC Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit the Web site at www.dce.siu.edu.
