Aviation students receive scholarships

by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Fourteen students enrolled in Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s aviation programs received scholarships during the recent fall aviation banquet.

The Aviation Management Society, an SIUC registered student organization, sponsors the banquet. Some of the scholarships honor SIUC graduates and all support students enrolled in the aviation management, aviation flight and aviation technologies programs, which are signature programs at SIUC.

The aviation programs are part of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Students received nearly $30,000 in scholarships during the “Aviation in the Future” banquet. Robert W. “Bob” Reding, executive vice president-operations for American Airlines, delivered the keynote address.
