Mark your calendars for Art Over Easy 4

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Art Over Easy 4, the much-anticipated art sale and major fundraiser for the School of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is set for 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Surplus Gallery in the Glove Factory.

Art Over Easy organizers want art lovers to save the date, and they want Art Over Easy regulars to notice several changes that begin this year.

The Art Over Easy event features artwork produced by faculty and students, alumni and community members. The format remains the same, with a wide selection of art available at silent auction and select pieces in the live auction.

Beginning this year, Art Over Easy becomes a biennial event. Those who miss it this year will have to wait until 2010 for the next one.

This year, admission to the fundraiser is $25. That admission fee, besides helping the School of Art and Design to provide scholarships and visiting artists, includes food, drinks, live music and, of course, access to some of the newest art in all of Southern Illinois.

Limited parking is available at the Glove Factory (408 S. Washington). Those who wish to park in the nearby Old National Bank parking lot may use the courtesy tram that shuttles between the parking lot and the gallery the night of the event.
