Season’s final Moonlight Canoeing is Tuesday

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- It’s the last chance in 2008. It’s your last opportunity to glide across the lake on a beautiful fall evening during a free canoe or paddleboat ride courtesy of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services.

The final session of Moonlight Canoeing for this year is from 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Lake-on-the-Campus Boat Dock. Canoes and paddleboats, each holding two-four people, are available for rides. The event is open to the general public. Anyone with valid photo identification can enjoy a free boat ride.

It’s all on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservations needed or accepted. Moonlight canoeing is quite popular, often drawing more than 120 people on a lovely fall evening.
