Recreational Sports and Services honors Novikova
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Ksenia “Ksusha” Novikova is the Leadership Team member of the month for August at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services.
Novikova is a second year master’s student in recreation hailing from Voronezh, Russia. The daughter of Victoria Novikova, Ksusha holds a bachelor of arts in management. She anticipates graduating in May 2009 with a master’s in commercial recreation while garnering a 4.0 grade point average.
She’s worked about four months as a graduate assistant within the instructional programs department at RSS.
“Ksusha has mastered the computer program registration system used by the department, presented on leadership at our staff training, and was the creative mastermind in the newly developed ‘extra mile’ award given as staff recognition each week,” said Sally Wright, assistant director at RSS. “Her strong work ethic, organizational skills and management background have made her a huge asset to our department. In addition, her creativity and sense of humor make her a real joy to work with.”
Novikova’s career goal is becoming a manager for a hotel chain and/or resort.
From team nominations, RSS presents the monthly Leadership Team award, voted on by full-time staff, to a member of the department’s leadership team. The team includes full-time staff, graduate assistants and some student employees. They choose the winner in recognition of exemplary leadership and teamwork skills.
