by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Why turn on the television to see who’s got talent? You can find out how entertaining and talented Southern Illinois University Carbondale students can be during a spirited competition at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, on the steps at Shryock Auditorium.

It’s the 72nd annual Greek Sing Competition. Audience members will enjoy performances by Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Gama Delta, Alpha Tau Omega, Phi Kappa Tau, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Xi. The SIUC Inter-Greek Council, a fixture on the campus since 1923, is coordinating the event. Each participating group has seven minutes to impress the judges and crowd with song, dance and more.

Judges are Ellen Malito, University Housing hall director; Willie Ehling, director of Recreational Sports and Services; and Amanda Phillips, Student Development coordinator.

The Greek Sing is one of the many fun family events during Saluki Family Weekend. For the full schedule, check online at www.siucstudentcenter.org/salukifamilyweekend.
