Time for employees to verify directory information

It is again time for employees to verify the information that affects the content of both the online directory that is accessed through the People Finder‚ on SIUC’s home page, as well as the 2008-2009 University Directory that is published annually. The process will be the same as last year.

If you are new to the University and have never participated in this process or if you need to review the steps for update, you can find instructions for data verification and update on the Human Resources Web Site: Click on Electronic Directory Update Information‚. If you are already familiar with the process, your ID and password to log in will be the same as the last time you used this system. PLEASE NOTE: This ID and password are NOT the same as your SIUC network ID and password. If you cannot remember your password, you will be given the opportunity to set a new one when you attempt to log in. Just click on “did you forget your password?”‚ and follow the steps for creating a new one.

As in the past, the mailcode, building name, room number, work phone number, home phone number, spouse name and degree may be changed online. The home address can be changed using the Faculty/Staff/Graduate Assistant/Retiree Change of Address Form‚ which can be accessed at the following site:

The department name and job title or job classification may only be changed through personnel paperwork processed through Human Resources.

Any changes made online do not directly update the HRMS system. Instead, an email transaction is generated informing Human Resources of the change(s) to be made. Upon receipt of the email, HR staff will update the HRMS system manually and the new data will be included in the daily extract file. The data from this file is used by Information Technology to populate the People Finder Web site. Due to the number of steps in the process described above, it may take up to two weeks for changes initiated through the web site to take effect. SIUC staff may make changes at any time but in order for them to be included in the annual staff directory, they must be submitted through the Web site by Friday, Oct. 3.

You may access the Web sites listed above from any machine that contains Internet browser software. If you do not have access to a machine through your department, there are computers available in labs at various locations on campus. If you are unable to obtain access to a computer, please contact HR Data Control at 453-6600 to make arrangements to help you verify your information.
