Seventh annual Noche de Gala set for Sept. 26

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Noche de Gala, an evening filled with salsa music and fun, is coming to the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Center Ballrooms Sept. 26. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the salsa sounds of the Salsa Chicago Mambo AllStars will fill the ballrooms from 8 to 11 p.m.

The seventh annual Noche de Gala is courtesy of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity and Student Center Special Programs and Center Events. Admission is free but semi-formal attire is required.

If you’re not quite ready to hit the dance floor yet, the men of Sigma Lambda Beta are even offering free salsa dance lessons. Lessons are Sept. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. in Ballroom D at the Student Center. They’ll offer help for beginners or those just needing to brush up on their skills a bit.

Noche de Gala is one of the many entertaining, informative and exciting events at SIUC during Latino Heritage Month. For more information about any of the events, contact Student Development at 618/453-5714 or look online at www.stddev.siu.edu.
