Business college names chief academic adviser
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Anthony C. Kirchmeier, formerly with the Office of Southern Illinois University Carbondale Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Larry H. Dietz, is the new chief academic adviser for the College of Business.
Born and raised in South Dakota, Kirchmeier holds a bachelor's degree in business from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., and a master's degree in counseling and student personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
"We are thrilled to have Tony on board," said Dean J. Dennis Cradit. "Throughout his career, he has proven to be a strong advocate for students -- our college's greatest commodity."
Kirchmeier's academic experience includes serving as dean of Human International University in Osaka, Japan, a student services officer in the Dean of Students office at University of North Dakota, residence hall director at Washington State University, assistant complex director at Minnesota State University and hall director at Black Hills State University.
"I really enjoy the interaction with students," Kirchmeier said. "The age between 18 and 23 is such a critical time in a person's life. We are helping them transition from adolescence to adulthood and that's why our role as academic advisers is so incredibly important."
