Final admissions director candidate to visit
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Rance E. Larsen, the third of three candidates for the open Director of Undergraduate Admissions position at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, comes to campus on Tuesday, June 24.
Larsen’s schedule includes an open session from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. at the Undergraduate Admissions’ Video Room in Woody Hall. The session is for all members of the University and surrounding communities to meet the director candidate.
Larsen will also meet with Victoria Valle, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management, with the search committee and with the undergraduate admissions staff.
Larsen currently serves as director of admissions at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo., a position held since May 2006. He oversees such programs as student visits, student ambassadors, new student orientation and recruitment. He also helped develop campus visitation centers, including multimedia admissions and financial aid presentations.
Before MSC, Larsen was assistant director of admissions at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., where served from 1996 to 2006. He coordinated the development of a campus welcome center for future students and assisted with the development of a recruitment video, Web page and other improvements.
He also served as assistant director of admissions at Western Wyoming Community College. His Bachelor of Arts degree is from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and his Master of Public Administration degree is from the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
Two other candidates, Patsy Reynolds and Courtney A. Kohn, visited campus earlier. The Director of Undergraduate Admissions position at SIUC is part of the enrollment management team.
