Openings remain for youth entrepreneurship camp

by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A few open spots remain for the popular nationally recognized youth entrepreneurship camp, Camp CEO, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The camp for high school-age youth runs July 13 to 18 at the SIUC Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center located at 150 E. Pleasant Hill Road, Carbondale. The camp includes leadership training, business site visits, networking receptions, guest speakers, a professional etiquette dinner, games and competitions along with recreational and outdoor activities.

Participants will get an up-close look at what it takes to develop a business, learning negotiation, sales, customer service, leadership, management, record-keeping and public speaking skills. Entrepreneurs and business leaders from throughout the region lend their expertise. All campers will leave with a business plan, a briefcase, specialized business cards, marketing plans, camp attire and materials, and more. They’ll enjoy lodging on the SIUC campus too.

The Southern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center and the University Entrepreneurship Center sponsor Camp CEO. Camp registration is $595 but campers can apply for partial scholarships. For more information or registration details, call 618/453-3805 or e-mail siu@campceo.biz. More information and the Camp CEO application are online at www.campceo.biz.
