Admissions director candidate visits Monday
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Patsy Reynolds, the first of three candidates for the open Director of Undergraduate Admissions position at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, comes to campus Monday, June 16.
Reynolds’ schedule includes an open session from 3:15 to 4:14 p.m. at the Undergraduate Admissions’ Video Room in Woody Hall. This session is for all members of the University and surrounding communities to meet the director candidate.
Reynolds will also meet with Victoria Valle, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management, with the search committee and with the undergraduate admissions staff.
Reynolds was director of admissions at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1984 until 2001. Her duties included co-authoring and updating a five-year enrollment plan for the university, establishing admissions policies and managing the admissions process, establishing strategies for diversity -- including assisting in the development of what she described as Tennessee’s “first ‘guaranteed’ scholarship for minority students.”
During her time as director of admissions, UTC achieved its highest freshmen enrollment ever, and was the only four-year state university in Tennessee to consistently achieve the state-mandated undergraduate minority enrollment goal, according to her curriculum vitae.
More recently, Reynolds was an assistant manager at AmSouth Bank and then assistant vice president and branch manager of Regions Financial Services in Chattanooga.
Before she was director of admissions at UTC, she served UTC as associate director of admissions, from 1982 to 1984, and as an undergraduate admissions officer, from 1981 to 1982.
Reynolds earned a bachelor’s degree in comprehensive social sciences from Illinois State University in 1976 and a master of education degree in community counseling from UTC in 1983.
Two more candidates, Courtney Kohn and Rance Larsen, will be on campus June 18 and June 24, respectively. The Director of Undergraduate Admissions position at SIUC is part of the enrollment management team.
