CARBONDALE, Ill. — The School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers a free piano concert by visiting artist Ina Selvelieva beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall.

Selvelieva, a native of Bulgaria, is an SIUC alumna. She earned her doctoral degree in May 2007 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and her master's degree here. Her undergraduate degree is from the State Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Currently Selvelieva is associated with the David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville, Ill., an arts school offering private instruction. She is teaching piano this semester at UW-Madison for associate professor of piano, Christopher Taylor, who is on sabbatical leave.

Selvelieva performed as a soloist with several Bulgarian orchestras while as a student, and in solo and chamber music performances. She also has several piano competition wins to her credit, including the Beethoven Competition at UW-Madison and the Artist Presentation Society Award in St. Louis.
