Students to help with community service projects
CARBONDALE, Ill. — It's a day of service to others – Saluki style! Southern Illinois University Carbondale students will participate in three community service projects on Saturday, April 19.
At The Women's Center, located at 610 S. Thompson St. (just off Mill Street) in Carbondale, volunteers will help with small interior painting projects and exterior landscaping work from 9 a.m. until noon. At the Boys and Girls Club, at 250 N. Springer St., SIUC volunteers will help paint the "Signs of Life" mural, wash windows and do landscaping from 9 a.m. until noon.
Finally, a volunteer group will paint T-shirts in the Illinois Room of the Student Center from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The students will create and decorate specialized T-shirts for children in Zambia, Africa orphaned by AIDS.
