Association seeks service award nominations

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University Alumni Association seeks nominations for the Alumni Achievement Award for Service.

The SIU Alumni Association bestows the award annually for outstanding service to the association, and through the association, to the University. Nominees may be graduates, former students or friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale who have demonstrated their commitment to alumni by their service.

Past recipients include Mike Reis, the "Voice of the Salukis" for almost three decades; Robert Reid, retired educator, volunteer campus flag master and the spearhead figure behind the effort to light Pulliam Tower; and Mary Ellen Dillard, retired educator and former principal of Carbondale's Thomas School, a community and campus volunteer and past president of the Jackson County SIU Alumni Association.

The Alumni Achievement Award for Service presentation is part of the SIU Alumni Association's Board of Director's Homecoming Luncheon each year. The recipient must be present to accept the award.

Nominating materials, including resume and background materials, may be submitted to the SIU Alumni Association, care of Lorrie Lefler, at Colyer Hall, Mail Code 6809, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale IL 62901 by July 31.
