by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Civil Service Council's annual spring flea market is set for Saturday, April 26.

Formerly the spring yard and craft sale, the flea market provides shoppers a chance to find those needed collectibles, doodads and can't-miss bargains from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Arena parking lot adjacent to the round parking lot. There is no parking in the circular lot without prior consent.

Proceeds go to the Civil Service Education Assistance Fund. No refunds will be given.

The cost to sellers for a single space (18 feet wide by 18 feet deep) is $25. The cost for a double space (36 feet wide by 18 feet deep) is $35. Payment is due by 4 p.m., April 23. Sellers renting space on the day of the sale will pay an additional $5.

Regulations prohibit the sale of food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition and hazardous materials. Also prohibited is amplification of any type, including microphones.

The rain date is Sunday, April 27. The rain date will be used only if hazardous conditions such as thunderstorms and lightning exist that prevent setup on April 26.
