Media Advisory – News Conference

How do Southern Illinois University Carbondale students and faculty feel about ethics, cheating and academic honesty? Donald McCabe, an expert on academic integrity from Rutgers University, is assessing that and he will discuss his findings at a news conference on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 1:15 p.m. in the Student Center Mississippi Room. Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend.

McCabe is nationally renowned for his work in college education and ethical development and has been featured in "The New York Times" and on "NBC Nightly News" and "60 Minutes." For the past decade, he has surveyed colleges and universities across the country to determine faculty and student attitudes on academic integrity.

Also on Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Old Baptist Foundation, McCabe will present the survey results as part of a panel on the subject along with Steven Dollinger, professor of psychology, and Paul Sarvela, dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts. The panel discussion is open to the public and will conclude with an open discussion.
