Campus Safety Alert
Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 10:55 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, near the Boomer residence hall.
A pizza delivery driver told police he was delivering an order to the residence hall. After waiting two or three minutes upon his arrival, he contacted the ordering party, who stated they would be down for the order.
After waiting a few more minutes, the victim was preparing to leave when three black males approached. One of the suspects grabbed the victim by the shoulder and held a gun to his side. The victim told the suspects that he didn't have any money because the delivery had not been paid for. One of the suspects reached into the victim's pocket and took between $30 and $40 that belonged to the business. The suspects grabbed the pizzas and ran toward the front side of Boomer Hall.
The victim was not injured.
One suspect is described as between five feet, nine inches and five feet, 10 inches tall, and between 150 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black coat, a hood covering his head, and dark pants. The other two suspects are each described as between five feet, seven inches and five feet, nine inches tall, and weigh between 150 and 170 pounds. They were wearing the same clothing as the first suspect.
