CARBONDALE, Ill. — The perfect Christmas gifts for Grandma Jane, cousin Sally, little Johnny and even the love of your life will be easy to find at the 28th annual Holiday Craft Sale at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The Student Center Craft Shop will host its annual craft fair Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in the Student Center Hall of Fame and International Lounge areas. Visitors may purchase the creations of approximately 75 artisans from all over the region between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 29 and 30, and on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is free. There's complimentary parking and shuttle rides to the Student Center from the SIU Arena parking lot.

Natural leaf wreaths, wood carvings, hand-blown glass ornaments, art prints, woodworking creations, handmade glass beads, fiber art doll ornaments, rag rugs, hand-carved wooden pens, coasters, artistic wire-wrapped wine glasses, baby attire, purses, pottery and homemade soap will be sold. Everything is handmade. Visitors can also acquire special gifts, such as deer antler art, lamp work glass, silks, scarves, quilts, candles, gift baskets, wine bottle holders, 3-D wooden puzzles, jewelry, hats, and even intricate paper-cut "Scherenschnitte" artwork. And that's just a taste of the offerings.

"People love to receive handmade things for the holidays," said Ron Dunkel, director of the Craft Shop. "Since the items are made regionally, including some from SIUC student groups, it makes them even more special."
