Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating an aggravated battery and mob action involving several SIUC students shortly before 3 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 4. The fight occurred along Logan Drive near Allen III residence hall.
Police responded at 2:56 a.m. to a report of a large group of people fighting in the street. Several of those involved ran as police arrived. Police and medical personnel started treating injured students.
A total of six students were injured. Four students were treated at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and released. Two students were treated for cuts, one student for a head laceration, and one after he suffered an asthma attack. Two other students were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel and also released.
The fight involved 10 to 15 black males, police said. No other descriptions on the suspects are available. There is no indication what started the fight.
