Recreational Sports and Services honors employees
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Benjamin Wooley and Matt Silverston are recipients of employee of the month honors for Recreational Sports and Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Wooley, of Cleveland, Ohio, earned his bachelor's degree in political science and is now a graduate student. The son of Maggie Wooley, he's been a personal trainer for two years for Recreational Sports and Services. He anticipates getting his doctorate in organizational behavior and plans a career in health management consulting and personal training.
"Ben is the kind of student we all look for in an employee," said Lynne Thompson-Cundiff, fitness coordinator for Recreational Sports and Services. "His desire to do well and his willingness to work in varying capacities are a tribute to his hard work ethic. His example to improve not only himself but be an excellent team player has made him a great asset to our team."
Silverston, of Los Angeles, Calif., is a junior at SIUC majoring in radio and television with a specialization in radio production. The son of Bess and Randy Silverston, he has been an information desk clerk for Recreational Sports and Services for about four months. He's still formulating his career plans.
"Matt's willingness to go the extra mile to help patrons or his coworkers is what makes him stand out as an employee, said Tena M. Bennett, coordinator of facilities and membership services for Recreational Sports and Services.
Silverston and Wooley earned the August 2007 Employee of the Month awards. Recreational Sports and Services presents the award monthly to recognize student employees of for outstanding effort and service.
