Job fair offers look at employment possibilities

CARBONDALE, Ill. — An all-majors job fair at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Wednesday, Sept. 26, will offer students, alumni and interested community members a first-hand look at job opportunities locally and around the country.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms, will feature representatives from an expected 100 employers from states including Alabama, California, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wyoming, along with Washington, D.C. Internships and permanent employment possibilities will be available.

Registration is not necessary and admission is free.

Job seekers should bring multiple copies of their resumes and any other pertinent credentials, and should dress professionally and appropriately. Job fair participants include Ameren, St. Louis; The Boeing Co., Hazelwood, Mo.; Caterpillar, East Peoria; Harrah's Casino and Hotel, Metropolis; Jasper Engines and Transmissions, Jasper, Ind.; John Deere & Co., Moline; The Kroger Co., Louisville, Ky.; National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Reston, Va.; Pepsi Mid-America, Marion; U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Washington, D.C.; and military recruiters and numerous federal government and Illinois state agencies.
