Fertilizer-pesticide conference set for Nov. 20

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 40th Annual Fertilizer and Pesticide Conference is coming to the Mt. Vernon Holiday Inn Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Those planning to attend must register by contacting the Division of Continuing Education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale no later than Nov. 16 at 618/536-7751 or by visiting the Web site at www.dce.siu.edu. The cost is $40.

The 2007 conference theme is "40 Years of Measured Success." Bryan Dodge, author and well-known motivational speaker, will give the keynote address. With a degree in animal science from Nebraska State University, Dodge toured Europe as the youngest winner of the "Mac Award," from Elanco, the animal health division of Eli Lilly and Co.

Dodge is one of the country's most prolific professional speakers, sharing how "You can build a better you." Dodge, who also hosts a radio show with the same theme in the Dallas/Forth Worth area, covers in his talks topics like leadership, professional salesmanship, team building and time management in his passionate and spirited style.

The fertilizer and pesticide conference will also address a variety of other topics of interest including ethanol, weed control, nitrogen use efficiency, crop disease and pest management resistance.

Participants are welcome to participate in a social after the conference celebrating "40 Years of Measured Success." It's an opportunity to network with colleagues, past advisers and others.
