SIUC to offer Microsoft Office instruction

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Microsoft Office is a set of commonly used computer programs and Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Division of Continuing Education is offering several courses to help participants enhance their program knowledge. In addition to covering the basics, coursework will include concepts covered in the Microsoft Officer User Specialist certification examination.

The class topics, covered in fun, innovative ways with ample participant involvement, are applicable for home use and the business environment. Available classes include: Beginning Microsoft Word, Beginning Microsoft Excel and Intermediate Microsoft Word. All classes meet Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon in room 204B at Pulliam Hall on the SIUC campus.

The class schedule includes:

• Beginning Microsoft Word, covering basic word processing skills including formatting, editing, table creating and file management, Sept. 8 and 15.

• Intermediate Microsoft Word, with mail merge, collaboration techniques, desktop publishing and automation instruction, Sept. 22 and 29.

• Beginning Microsoft Excel, enabling participants to master spreadsheet operations and functions, Oct. 13 and 20.
