CARBONDALE, Ill. — Theater lovers can take a running jump into the 2007-08 Southern Illinois University Carbondale theater season with two weekends in a row dedicated to fresh theater – new plays and new faces on stage and behind the scenes.

Here's what's coming:

One-Day Play-Day gives actors, writers and directors 24-hours to create new, short plays. The shows start at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Christian H. Moe Laboratory Theater in the Communications Building.

New Faces is a presentation of scenes and monologues by new and incoming theater majors. Come check out the new artists – you never know who might be the next big star. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 in the Christian H. Moe Laboratory Theater.

Both events are free and open to the public, but the theater department will accept donations to its scholarship fund.
