by Kathy Dillard

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The SIU Alumni Association invites all Southern Illinois University Carbondale students and their families to take an ice cream and massage break from the stress of moving in during the first day of Week of Welcome activities on Friday, Aug. 17.

The "Saluki Oasis," hosted by the SIU Alumni Association, is from 1 to 4 p.m. in the International Lounge on the second floor of the SIUC Student Center. Oasis visitors can sample a bowl of Dippin' Dots Ice Cream, courtesy of SIU alumnus and Dippin' Dots founder Curt Jones. Chair massages are also available. Student members of the SIU Alumni Association can register for $500 toward spring 2008 textbooks at the Oasis as well. Students who join the association during Saluki Oasis activities are also eligible to register for the drawing.
