Media Advisory- Robotics Camp Competition
A dozen teens participating in the Robotics Camp sponsored by the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will showcase their handiwork in a competition from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, in the food court area of Carbondale's University Mall. Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome at this public competition, during which the high school-age students will demonstrate robots they have built to perform specific tasks.
The July 9-13 camp, coordinated with assistance from the University's Division of Continuing Education, focuses on mechanical systems, control systems, programming and autonomous control sensors. Participants also study the principles of robotics and participation in problem-solving competitions. Friday's contest caps off the week's hands-on learning of the advanced robotics camp.
