Union County alumni chapter to host fundraiser
CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Union County Chapter of the SIU Alumni Association invites all alumni, students, friends, and Saluki fans to an afternoon with Saluki coaches at a fundraiser to benefit the Union County High School Scholarship Fund.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the Great Boars of Fire Lodge, at 820 Kratzinger Hollow Road in Cobden.
Besides famous Great Boars of Fire barbecue, the event stars the Blues Bandits, who play from noon to 4 p.m. A silent auction features packages from local attractions, including Blue Sky Vineyard, Alto Vineyards and Stone Creek Golf Club and memorabilia from the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams and more.
All proceeds benefit the Union County High School Scholarship Fund. These scholarships are awarded annually to deserving high school seniors from Union County who will attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Cost is $10 per person, with children under 8 years old admitted for $5 each. Reservations are preferred, but tickets are available at the door. Alumni, students and friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale are invited to join the Alumni Association. The annual membership is $40, with a lifetime membership available for $500.
