Inspiring Women nominations due by June 30
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Inspiring Women's Program is accepting nominations for the 2007 Inspiring Women awards. Nominations are due by June 30.
The Inspiring Women's Program honors outstanding women who have made significant and lasting contributions to their communities and professions. Criteria for the awards include:
• Demonstrated achievement in the workplace or within the community;
• Commitment to community service or improvement and/or enhancing the quality of life for others within the community;
• Evidence of socially responsible, ethical and outstanding leadership either in specific positions of responsibility or while engaged in service activities.
Four recipients will be selected. Honorees will be notified by early August, and honored during the fourth annual Inspiring Women Gala to be held on Oct.13.
Previous award recipients include:
2004: Dorothy Budell (Anna), Jackie Cox (Carbondale), Ethel Holladay (Du Quoin), and Jean Ellen Reynolds (Carterville).
2005: Elaine Melby (Marion), Margaret Nesbitt (Carbondale), Blanche Carlton Sloan (Carbondale), and Gloria Celesia Tison (Harrisburg).
2006: Gayla R. Borgognoni (Carbondale), Yolonde Peterson (Marion), Janet Proctor (Golconda), and Dixie Lee Travelstead (Du Quoin).
