Campus Safety Alert
Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating an attempted strong-armed robbery and aggravated battery that occurred at 9:33 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, in the Allen III residence hall.
An 18-year-old SIUC student told police he was in the hallway near his room when a black male approached him from around the hall corner, hit him in the face, and demanded money. The victim refused to give the suspect any money. A witness arrived and the suspect ran down the hall, police said.
The victim refused medical treatment.
The victim described the suspect as a black male, 6 feet tall, muscular with broad shoulders, wearing blue jeans, a black do-rag, and red baseball cap.
