Media Advisory – Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Student Development office and the Saluki Volunteer Corps are hosting an Earth Awareness Exhibit on Monday, April 16, in the Student Center ballrooms. Mythili Rundblad, a Student Development coordinator, expects more than 500 elementary school children from Jackson, Williamson and Perry counties to participate. Children will take part in hands-on learning experiences at informational displays set up by nine SIUC and community organizations.

Presenters include: Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, Shawnee National Forest, SIUC Touch of Nature, Keep Carbondale Beautiful, SIUC Recycling-Plant & Service Operations' vermiculture program, Beautify Southern Illinois Student Alliance, SIUC Family Housing, Cache River State Natural Area and Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District.
