Acclaimed photographer to visit campus

by Tim Crosby

CARBONDALE, Ill. — An acclaimed wildlife photographer and graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale will show some of his most recent work during a presentation at the University.

Tom J. Ulrich is a 1971 graduate in biological science. His presentation features the Falkland Islands, Brazil, the hummingbirds of Costa Rica and the wildlife of North America. It is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in room 151 at Lawson Hall.

The Southern Illinois Photographic Society, the student chapter of The Wildlife Society, The Zoology Club and the Department of Zoology at SIUC are co-sponsoring the event.

Ulrich worked as a biology teacher at Fairfield High School after graduating from SIUC. He later used his biological background in launching a career as a wildlife photographer, specializing in snapping images in hard-to-reach locales.
