Health fair offers look at services for students
CARBONDALE, Ill. – Students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale can take a stroll down "Healthy U Boulevard" on Monday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center and the Student Health Center.
Both facilities will host a health fair to promote the services and programs available through the Division of Student Affairs. Student Affairs department heads will set up more than 25 booths along "Healthy U Boulevard," in the recreation center's first-floor hallway extending into the Student Health Center. Each booth will represent a different service, ranging from dental screenings to counseling.
The fair's theme, "Spring Semester Road Trip Down Healthy U Boulevard," reminds students they need not go far for access to quality health, wellness, fitness and recreation-related services because all of that is on campus, under one roof.
"The coordinators of this event recognize that the students are whole human beings with a complex set of needs both in and out of the classroom," said Sally J. Wright, interim director of SIUC's Recreational Sports and Services. "Student Affairs provides the students with programs and services aimed at enhancing their education, improving their health and well-being and positively impacting their quality of life while attending SIUC."
