SIUC aviation students earn scholarships
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Fifteen students enrolled in Southern Illinois University Carbondale's aviation program received scholarships for the fall 2006 semester.
Students learned of the honors during the annual fall aviation banquet on Oct. 20. The Aviation Management Society, an SIUC registered student organization, sponsors the banquet. Some of the scholarships honor SIUC graduates and all support students enrolled in the aviation program.
The program is part of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.
The students received more than $31,000 in scholarships during "Aviation in the Future" banquet.
Phil Boyer, president of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the largest general aviation pilots' organization in the nation, delivered the keynote address. Approximately 265 people attended the annual banquet.
