SIUC to host new attorney swearing-in ceremony

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host a swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 9, for 122 new attorneys.

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier is presiding over the ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m. in the law school auditorium, located in the SIU School of Law's Hiram H. Lesar Law Building. Irene F. Bahr, president of the Illinois State Bar Association, is the keynote speaker.

The new attorneys come from within the state's Fifth District. The judicial district includes 37 counties and extends from Christian and Shelby counties to Alexander County.

Similar ceremonies also will take place Thursday, Nov. 9 in Chicago, Springfield, Rock Island and Elgin.
