Panel to discuss abuse of presidential power

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A forum on the abuse of presidential power is the focus of a panel discussion this week at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The forum is at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, in the SIU School of Law's Hiram H. Lesar Law Building Auditorium. The event is open to the public; admission is free.

SIUC panelists are: Albert P. Melone, professor emeritus in political science; law professor Paul E. McGreal; and history professor David L. Wilson.

The speakers will discuss the president's constitutional role and the historical and legal perspectives of presidential power, said Scott A. Comparato, an assistant professor in political science.
