Campus Safety Alert Southern Illinois University Carbondale Oct. 11, 2006
Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred between 3:20 and 4 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Schneider Hall, an east-campus residence hall.
The victims are two 18-year-old, female SIUC students. They told police they were asleep when they heard a noise in the hallway. Believing it might be friends, one of the victims opened the door and saw three black males standing in the hall. She closed the door and went back into her room. Then two suspects opened the door, entered the room and sexually assaulted the two girls. The two suspects left after the assault.
The first suspect, who goes by the name “Jay,” is described as a black male, 5-feet 10-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt and had braided hair. The second suspect, who goes by the name, “Chris,” is a black male, 5-feet 8-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He had a buzz cut.
A third black male was with the two suspects in the hall prior to the assault. He did not enter the room and had turned and walked down the hall when the one victim closed her door before the attack, police said. He was wearing a blue, track jacket, had braided hair, and goes by the nickname, “T.”
